For motorcycle riders, there are few things better than a ride on the open road. However, a negligent driver can ruin a peaceful ride and leave people with devastating injuries.
A volunteer firefighter and EMT was recently killed in a motorcycle accident along a Kentucky highway. The 43-year-old man was driving eastbound along Highway 42. A 49-year-old man was driving a truck in the opposite direction. He attempted to make a left turn off of the highway. However, he drove into the path of the motorcyclist. The motorcycle hit the truck. The impact of the collision sent the driver flying off of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital. However, he later died from his injuries.
People who knew the motorcycle driver are still in disbelief, but remember him fondly.
“He always liked to see people laugh. He liked to have a good time,” the chief of the volunteer fire department said.
Because of the lack of protection, when motorcycle accidents do occur people often suffer severe injuries. A small bike is no match for a large car, truck or SUV.
When families lose a loved one in a motorcycle accident, they may find it hard to go on. However, there are legal options for them to consider. They may wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit against any negligent parties. No amount of money will bring a loved one back, but it may give family members peace of mind knowing that a negligent driver is being held responsible for their reckless actions.
